Police Arrest Burglar Who Operates Both In Nigeria And Ghana
The Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) says it has arrested an ex-convict who breaks into homes in Nigeria and Ghana. The command’s spokesman, DSP Joseph Offor, expressed the 32-year-old suspect, Wasami Dennis, had confessed that Ghana was his major point of operation.
The trans-border robbery suspect claimed he was released about a year ago from Kirikiri Maximum Prison after he was convicted for a break-in and run robbery in FESTAC Town, Lagos.
The statement noted that he was caught in possession of a stolen laptop from Ghana along with three machetes hidden inside the walls of his hideout.
The suspect: “I used to bring the stolen items to Nigeria to sell. I have a ready market for them in Lome and Lagos. Those two machetes found inside my apartment in Agbole Orile belong to Area Boys operating in a garage nearby. They kept them there for whenever there is crisis among them. I decided to go into house breaking and stealing to survive, and I have been in it for about six years. I have operated in more than five houses in Lagos here. All the houses are in FESTAC Town because I know much about the area. Among those I sold the items to are Qudus, I.K, Happier, Stanley and Kelvin.”
The statement said police operatives have begun a man-hunt for the suspect’s stolen goods buyers.
